dEFINING THE AMERICAN DREAM
The American Dream is normally defined by living in the suburbs with a wife, two kids and a dog. Don't forget to include the white collar job and the new luxury car! This is the imagined.
Reality is the American Dream is what one makes of it. The American Dream is an inner prosperity that can only be defined by the keeper of it- by one's own identity.

Over time
The theme of American literature is identity. The change in American identity over time has left the nation with many impressionable marks and no two are identical. For example, the Era of Native Americans was completely different from and because of the Age of Exploration. The culture changed, including the literature and customs. In the literature, works that were once oral origin myths were replaced by Puritan plain style, absorbed in nothingness. Moreover, the American dream is acknowledging identity created by experimentation, supported by individualism, and expressed by figuration.
The rationale
It is hard to confine the theme of America to only one. There are many to be applied to the nations. For example, there is integrity, freedom, responsibility, and decisiveness, but the one that sticks out the most is the identity of America. The melting pot is filled with so many factors from other places the identity is one that can be interpreted in many ways, but also one not like any other.
The set up of the website is to expose the crescendo effect that leads one to agree on the idea that identity is the American theme that makes the American dream become reality. The building up of rationale, historical examples, literary examples, and the exposing of the opposition make for the idea of the American dream being identity true.
