A period in time like no other
The Modern Era was a time filled with many peaks and valleys. During this time the America moved out of the prosperous Progressive era into the World War One. From the economic boom following the Great War, the nation moved into the Great Depression. From the recovery of the Depression the nation moved into the Second Great War, which also offered some opulence for the nation.
Referred to as the Age of Disillusion, Defiance, and Discontent, the modern age brought forth a backlash to the conservative ways of previous era like the Age of Realism. The American Dream of grasping identity was backed by this era because of the this backlash. The era was made up of:
-Bold experimentation in style over the traditional
- Interest in the mind
This curiosity gave way to new ways of expressing self the discontent and defiance became individualized.

"Make it new
-Ezra Pound
Mr. Pound's quote says it all. One has to step outside of boundaries to find what fits their identity. They have to "make it new" to make it for themselves. Defying old ways leads to new doorways being opened for many others aside from the one with the key.
