"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives are mimicry, their passions are quotations."
With this quote, Mr. Wilde is saying the people are not individuals. People are all the same. They share the same opinions and passions. They share the same mind and their passions, goals, and aspirations are worthless. People are a grey area where everything meets. Nothing is unique in people.
HOWEVER
Everyone is their own person. Each person has their own identity. Acknowledging and expressing that identity is the dream and it comes true as long as people make it. People have the ability to separate and remove themselves from the conformity of Americana, but they must have the will. The will comes from acknowledging identity created by experimentation, supported by individualism, and expressed by figuration.
