"The American Dream is one of success, home ownership, college education for one's children, and have a secure job to provide these and other goals.
-Leonard Boswell
Mr. Boswell depicts the perfect Americana lifestyle. This is the American dream of some, but not all. The house, the car, and expansion for the posterity, and job are just things people need. These things make for more opportunity in individual lives, and on a grander scale, for America.
HOWEVER
The truth is these are things that American all want, but that is exactly what they are- wants. Needs include self satisfaction and that can be achieved through knowing self. Revealing one's own identity makes fro a house becoming a home, an education becoming a foundation and an inspiration, and a job becoming a career. Leonard Boswell created a disconnected, objective idea of the American Dream. Connecting and understanding self makes for connections to be made in all aspects of life. Without these connections, people are just living. They aren't alive. After leaving this earth, the job, house, and car are just the tangible without true meaning. Being one with self and understanding self makes for a mark to be made that will impact the next era.
